Raisi, one of hopefuls for the 13th presidential election in Iran, leads in the June 18 election with 17.8 million votes out of over 28 million votes counted till mid-day on Saturday.
In a related development, a group of senior Iranian officials including presidential candidates some of whom were Raisi's rivals extended message of congratulations to the president-elect.
On his Instagram page, Abdolnaser Hemmati who was the Governor of Central Bank of Iran and was one of the candidates, felicitated Raisi and expressed hope that he would fulfill what the great Iranian people expect.
Elsewhere, Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of the Expediency Council, congratulated the president-elect and wished success for him in his responsibility as the next president.
Also, Amir Hossein Qazizadeh-Hashemi, one of the hopefuls, extended congratulation to Raisi in a statement and wished him success.
Qazizadeh-Hashemi also expressed hope that the president-elect would well serve the great Iranian nation.
Iran’s presidential election was held nationwide and in 133 countries on June 18.
The election was due to end at 24:00 a.m. local time, but it was extended to 02:00 a.m. on June 19.
Over 59 million Iranians were eligible to vote.
Vote counting started as soon as the extended time ended.
